About Healthy Head
Read the story of how the Healthy Head webshop was created and has evolved.
Healthy Head was founded by us, Mike and Emil – two friends from Aarhus with a shared vision: to make it easy to choose cosmetics without harmful chemicals. The idea came about when we realized that many of the products we used on a daily basis – including a popular hair wax we had sworn by for years – contained substances that could be allergenic, endocrine disrupting and harmful to the environment.
At the time, we were both working with e-commerce at Salling, where we each had our own specialties. But we shared a curiosity to dive into the entire process behind a webshop – from product selection and marketing to the technical aspects. Especially geeking out on the technical systems, the whole user experience and functionality was something that drew us together. The idea of building our own webshop from scratch quickly became a shared passion, and together with a skilled freelance developer, we started shaping the platform with great control over both functionality and user experience.

Today, we offer carefully selected cosmetics completely free from endocrine disruptors, allergenic and environmentally harmful substances. Our clothing is primarily GOTS-certified organic and we continue to work closely with our local printer to find even more environmentally friendly printing solutions. Everything we do stems from a desire to make it a little easier to make healthier and more sustainable choices in everyday life – and we continue to develop Healthy Head based on the same values.
And as two friends with a shared interest in e-commerce and the desire to build something ourselves from scratch, we still find it fun to geek out on it and figure out how we can make things a little better, step by step.

During the corona pandemic, a former colleague from Salling who lives in Cambodia approached us with the idea of selling organic cloth face masks. After some discussion about whether it was a good idea, we decided to try it out. We started importing the face masks from there – with him as our man on the ground to ensure both quality and proper production conditions. The legalities quickly proved to be a bit of a jungle – but after many calls and dialogues with the authorities, we found our way through the rules and got a handle on the requirements.
It wasn’t long before the first thousand face masks were sold, and during the height of the corona pandemic we imported around 10,000 face masks a week directly from Cambodia. We also started a collaboration with a small, local Danish printing company that uses OEKO-TEX certified foil for printing on face masks. This was the start of a great collaboration that we still maintain and build on today.
In the same period, we became official distributors of the French makeup brand ZAO in Denmark – an organic and vegan brand that has been part of our range from the very beginning. The products meet our high standards for quality, health and sustainability, and our customers have really welcomed them. Previously, however, it was only possible to access a fairly limited range through the Danish distributor at the time. So when the opportunity arose to take over the distribution ourselves and expand ZAO on the Danish market, we didn’t doubt for a moment that we should take it.
